NEGATIVITY IS TOXIC

Discovering and removing the negative influences in our life will help us more than we realize.  Studies show that our own thoughts, attitudes and behaviors are a reflection of the people we spend the most time with.
All too often, we are faced with negative people and influences that surround us and affect us as a person, in all areas of our life.  “Toxic” people are like vampires . They suck the life and energy right out of you.  Toxic people are ultimately the people who cause you the most negative stress in your life. They are the people that make you feel unhappy, or spoil your mood purposely every chance they get.

Toxic people can be a challenge to be around. They will bring you down and drain your energy, and all too often, they will squash any type of lifestyle change YOU are trying to make.  Toxic people are just pieces of the obstacle course you will run through in your efforts obtain your nutrition and fitness goals, and they have a detrimental effect on your mental thoughts and mental toughness.

Who wants or needs that?

Toxic people truly believe that they are constantly taken advantage of by others and that bad things are always happening to them. They are often the people who make mountains out of molehills. Toxic people are those who think they are doing something right, by complaining and blowing up almost any situation, whether it is a small issue or a large one.

Amazingly, toxic people believe their negative comments are helping to solve the situation in some way. In addition, they often rely on others to entertain them or make them happy. Even if it’s not other people, they often rely on some kind of outside source to keep them happy.  All too often, toxic people find this happiness in social settings with food and drinks, which ends up being a “perfect” setting to express their negativity.

Unfortunately, toxic people are everywhere; just take a moment to look around.  Don’t let them take your happiness away or affect your mood.   Toxic people only have as much power, control, and impact on our lives that we allow them to have.

Each day, we are faced with a decision and need to say to ourselves, “I can either allow these negative and “toxic” people to ruin my day and my actions for that day, or I can choose to rise above them, completely remove them from my life, or speak motivating words to them and move on!”  At that point, it is up to them as to whether they choose to use the motivating words to their advantage or not.
Toxic people need boundaries, and giving them a time limit lets them know you will only tolerate a small amount of negativity. Check your watch, allow them to vent for two minutes, give them some positive words of encouragement and then move away and fill your head with positive affirmations and thoughts as soon as you can!

Transform your energy into positive energy and remove these negative “toxic” people from your life.  I realize that these toxic people might include close friends or even family members.  Remember, in order for you to reach your goal you must stay focused on the end result , remind yourself what is most important to you, and if your friend or family member can’t support you with your goals, why are they in your life… and do they truly care for you and your well-being?

So, my question to you is:  who do you spend the most time with, and do they help you toward your goals or pull you away from them?

Powerful Mind = Powerful Body

I have always been a firm believer in the power of ones mind. What you put out directly correlates with what you will reap. For example you wake up in the morning and think “$*#*, It’s another Monday”. Most likely it will be a crappy Monday. You wake up and think “Let’s start this week off amazing”! I bet you have a great day and a great week!  I want to explore some ways to enrich your life by just changing the way you think.

Ever heard the saying “mind over matter”? There is a whole lot of truth behind that saying. When you’re working out are you constantly thinking this is so hard or I can not do another set? Try this out try thinking I got this or my personal favorite that I honestly use all the time is “This is not the hardest thing I have ever had to do”! When you start really breaking down what your doing down to the minute or set, you can really start tricking your brain. When you’re glaring at the timer on the treadmill and there is only 5 minutes left, think about how quick 5 minutes is rather than how long. Think about all the simple tasks you can do in 5 minutes and how 5 minutes is nothing!  Mind over matter, right? If you don’t mind it doesn’t matter.

Researchers continue to explore the effects of positive thinking and optimism on health. Health benefits that positive thinking may provide include:

·                                 Increased life span
·                                 Lower rates of depression
·                                 Lower levels of distress
·                                 Greater resistance to the common cold
·                                 Better psychological and physical well-being
·                                 Reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease
·                                 Better coping skills during hardships and times of stress

The theory is that positive and optimistic people more often then not lead healthier lifestyles. They tend to be more physically active, don’t drink or smoke. Negativity is contagious so work on surrounding yourself with positive people. Keep your head up shoulders back and never give up. Find what drives you and don’t loose your sights.  When you give up you're letting someone else win, don’t give them the satisfaction.

"If I think I can, even if I don't have necessarily the ability to do it, I may actually do it. And, if I think I can't, given that I have the ability to do so, I'm likely not going to do it."( www.asep.org/node/64)

NO TIME FOR FITNESS!?!?

I hear way too many times "I have no time to workout". That is completely BOGUS!!! So your telling me you have time to watch your trashy reality T.V. shows, go out to eat, see a movie and complain about how much weight you have gained but no time to work out!? I know we have heard that our entire life but you have got to prioritize.

Here are some awesome ways you can work out from home!
1- Buy Fitness Videos that you can do at home. I know a lot of people are embarrassed to go to the gym because they either don't know how to work the equipment or do not exactly have a game plan, and it is normal to have those feelings. A lot of videos now are done completely with body weight training so you will not need to buy any equipment, just have that amazing  body of yours and a smile ready to work!( OK so you might also need a good pair of kicks and some water!)

2- Now if you can’t find a video that you like check out the Internet. There are videos all over, they might not be complete but hey it’s better then nothing! Here is a website that I personally love http://www.bodyrock.tv/ . It is a little advanced but you can modify the moves so that any fitness level can do these workouts. Also http://www.youtube.com/ can be a great place to browse through work outs. Just type in what you’re looking for; like yoga, Pilate's, interval training, body weight training and BAM tons of workouts should pop up!

3- Go outside for a jog, a run or a walk! Now, weather permitting, you should be able to get outside and let your shoes hit the asphalt. When doing this, keep track of time and how far you have ran. That way each day you can try and go further or longer.

Since you now have some fabulous ideas I want you to make a calendar and Set dates and times for your workouts. Put a reminder on your cell phone or a sticky note on the TV. so you have a visual reminder. Ask a friend to start doing the same from their home so you guys can hold each other accountable. We are all competitive so making a goal with a friend on loosing weight or inches; it is a great way to drive both of you. Who doesn't like to win? Try to wake up an hour earlier or stay up an hour later so you can get your work out done. A good place to start if you’re completely inactive is to work out twice a week. Now run along young grass hopper and get your booty moving!!
